The ASE Academy is a working community of counselors, educators, parents, and civic practitioners who want to hold their work with more depth, less loneliness, and a clearer sense of what they are actually for. Membership is your invitation into that community, at whatever level fits your life right now.
ASE is not a technique you master; it is a way of paying attention that needs to be renewed in the company of others who are doing the same. Members receive a steady rhythm of dispatches, practice circles, and reading conversations — just enough to keep the work alive when ordinary responsibility crowds it out.
Membership is also how the Academy sustains itself. Because we do not run on grants or advertising, it is members — alongside retreat participants — who make it possible for us to keep offering scholarship seats, free resources, and long-form writing that isn't behind a paywall.
Membership does not confer a title, a credential, or a station of any kind. It offers something more interesting than that: a place in a serious, ongoing conversation among people who are trying to do this work well. ASE holds that genuine expertise in this practice is demonstrated through sustained engagement, not through the accumulation of designations. That is what we are all here for.

A shared slow-read of one foundational text or chapter. Participants read in advance; the call is for conversation.
