School Counselor Formation

A 30-week practicum and internship curriculum grounded in ASE theory — designed for the counselors-in-training who will build co-regulated, environmentally responsive schools, and the supervisors who hold space for their formation.

Our Formation Philosophy

Counselors are formed, not trained.

The practicum and internship are not rehearsals for real practice — they are the practice. Every student you sit with this year is a real person in a real environment, shaped by real Constitutional, Cultural, and Circumstantial conditions. What you bring into that room is not a set of techniques but a developing self: curious, co-regulating, and advocating.

This curriculum is organized around that conviction. We have drawn on the best available literature in school counseling, supervision, and educational psychology — and revised each element so that it is not merely informed by evidence but oriented by ASE: emergent situated agency, the 3 Governors, the 5Cs, and a non-dual understanding of the person-environment relationship that refuses to fix either in isolation.

Who this is for

🎓 Interns & Practicum Students 🏫 Site Supervisors 🏫 University Supervisors

Interns use the weekly curriculum as a learning and reflection guide. Site supervisors use the supervision prompts to structure their weekly 1-hour individual and 1.5-hour group supervision. University supervisors use the full curriculum and resources to plan, monitor, and evaluate field placements.
